What is a Transition Town (or village / city / forest / island)?
It all starts off when a small collection of motivated individuals within a community come together with a shared concern: how can our community respond to the challenges, and opportunities, of Peak Oil and Climate Change?

In May 2009 Transition Ipswich had a series of events. We started off at the Mayday event in Alexandria Park with a bug marquee. Build a clay oven at the People's Community Garden, went on a wild food walk in Holywell Park, Had a film screening, Did a talk, Had a prospective Green MEP talk to us, organise a Club night at the Steamboat and had a backgammon night at the new Veggie Cafe called the Museum Street Cafe.
